New Deep-Sea Creatures
June 2024 is a rather quiet month in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While critter collectors have some new bugs, fish, and deep-sea creatures to catch, June lacks any major events. Instead, players can participate in the month-long Wedding Season, preparing special wedding-themed photoshoots at the height of an otherwise lazy summer or winter season.
May gave Animal Crossing players plenty to do, including participating in big events such as May Day and International Museum Day. With its small-scale Nook Shopping events and Wedding Season, June provides an excellent opportunity for players to sit back and relax. Critter collectors should keep an eye out for all kinds of new creatures, including a diverse range of new fish, both big and small.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been out for over three years, but there are still new bugs, fish, and items players can find in June 2022.
New Bugs (& Where To Find Them)
Northern Hemisphere
Name | Location | Time of Day | Sell Price |
---|---|---|---|
Drone beetle | On trees | All day | 200 |
Emperor butterfly | Flying | 5pm -8am | 4,000 |
Firefly | Flying | 7pm - 4am | 300 |

Mosquito | Flying | 5pm - 4am | 130 |
Rainbow stag | On trees | 7pm - 8am | 6,000 |
Most of these bugs are fairly easy to catch, including fireflies, which glow at night, making them easy to spot. The only exceptions are the goliath beetle and rainbow stag, both rarer critters that don't spawn often. As such, players should donate them to the museum or sell them to earn some extra Bells.
Players should also be careful when exploring outdoors at night. Dangerous critters such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Scorpions can still be found outdoors and will chase and sting players.

Southern Hemisphere players have fewer bugs to catch; however, the dung beetle is one of the most unique critters in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Dung beetles can be found rolling snowballs along the icy ground. Players can continue rolling these snowballs to make them larger and stack them up to make the perfect Snowboy. Snowboys reward players with DIY recipes and large snowflakes if crafted, making them a fun way to decorate an island for the winter.

June is the perfect month for aspiring anglers in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, with plenty of large and rare fish to be caught. Players should find Manila Clams and craft Fish Bait to maximize their chances. When tossed in the water, Fish Bait causes a random fish to spawn. Manila Clams are generally very easy to find along the island's beaches, and each Fish Bait only costs a single Clam.

Southern Hemisphere players get fewer new fish, but the Oarfish and the Stringfish are extraordinarily rare and impressive additions to any museum collection. The Stringfish is particularly rare, as it only spawns on clifftops, so players will need a ladder to reach their island's highest points.

June Events & Seasonal Items
The only major event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons in June is Wedding Season. To participate, players must travel to Harv's Island by heading to their island's airport and catching a flight. On Harv's Island, Harvey can be found setting up a wedding photoshoot for Reese and Cyrus, and players can help him set up their rooms for daily photoshoots. Every day, players can chat with Reese to find out the theme of the day's photo shoot and receive instructions on how she wants the room to be decorated.
For the first six days, Reese will alternate between the Wedding Ceremony and Reception themes and provide various wedding-themed items after the daily photo shoot is completed. Players also receive up to 11 Heart Crystals daily, which can be used to purchase wedding-themed furniture from Cyrus.
After the seventh day, Reese will begin alternating between pink and white, chic and garden themes, and hinting towards a preferred color scheme for the decorations. At this point, players can receive up to 15 Heart Crystals a day, so paying attention to Reese's requests and taking photographs she loves is essential.
According to the Animal Crossing Wiki, Reese and Cyrus can also open a shop on Harv's island once the player unlocks the plaza on Harv's island and pays 100,000 Bells. Cyrus provides a service where he can customize any customizable item in exchange for Bells.
Apart from Wedding Season, June also features another Bug-Off for players in the Northern Hemisphere, specifically on the fourth Saturday of June (June 22nd). During the Bug-Off, players can participate in bug-catching contests to earn and redeem points for special bug-themed prizes from Flick.
Finally, there are several Nook Shopping events in June where players can purchase special items from Nook Shopping:
Event | Dates | Items Available | Regions |
---|---|---|---|
International Children's Day | June 1st - 15th |
| All |
Father's Day | June 1st - 30th |
| All |
Summer Solstice | June 15th - 21st |
| Europe only |
Winter Solstice | June 15th - 21st |
| Southern Hemisphere only |
Overall, Animal Crossing: New Horizons players can enjoy a slightly quieter month this June. While Cyrus and Reese's wedding photoshoots provide the perfect excuse to visit Harv's Island, players will find their own islands are a little quieter than usual: perfect for decorating or simply sitting back and relaxing.
