TurboTax would have calculated the return based on what was entered forstimulus paymentsand the age of dependents. It cannot know if that input is inaccurate.

The return must be amended. If you have state taxes, they must be amended as well. ToAmend(change) your 2020 TurboTax Online return, follow these steps:

  • Open the return--you will be atTax Home.
  • Scroll down toYour tax returns & documentsandShow.
  • Select2020, andAmend(change) return.

Only after the amend process has been started, then, navigate to the Stimulus Payments section by following these steps:

  1. Go to the search box and enterstimulus. Click theJump tolink.
  2. AnswerYes.
  3. At the next screen,Let's double-check the amount you received, answerNoto edit the first-round and second-round amounts.
  4. An amount must entered in each box. Report the stimulus payments as receivedWhen finished, clickContinue.

Next, to correct your dependent's age:

  1. Go to the left menu and selectMy Info.
  2. Scroll to your daughter's info and selectEditby clicking the pencil icon.
  3. Edit her birth date and save/continue.
