Including Eagle Scout on the Common App? (2024)

Really proud of becoming an Eagle Scout and definitely want colleges to know about it, but where's the best place to put my Eagle Scout accomplishment on the Common App? Should it be under activities, honors, or somewhere else?

Congratulations on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout! That's a noteworthy accomplishment and colleges will certainly view this favorably. On the Common App, the ideal spot to include your Eagle Scout recognition is under the 'Activities' section. There, you can describe your involvement in Scouting, highlight your leadership experiences, and the impact of your Eagle project. Moreover, if you received specific awards or recognitions as a part of reaching the Eagle rank, those can be placed in the 'Honors' section. It's important to detail what becoming an Eagle Scout entailed and how it helped you grow - this is where you can really shine and show off your dedication, leadership, and service skills. And remember, the essay or additional information section could be an appropriate space to reflect on your Scouting journey if it has been a significant part of your story. Good luck with your applications!
