Aside from the lighthouse, one of the most popular attractions at Lake Sumter Landing has to be the Lake Sumter Boat Tours. Located just past where Canal Street meets Lakeshore Drive, on the dock directly behind Haagen Dazs and RJ Gators Restaurant, the Lake Sumter Line boat gives Villagers a unique view of Lake Sumter Landing from out on the tranquil water of Lake Sumter.

Passengers will board a blue and white boat that has the elegant beauty of an old fishing boat. There is a yellow and white tent to shield passengers from the evening sun, and there is bench seating around the perimeter of the boat that can accommodate up to 15 guests. The tours last between 20 and 25 minutes as the captain and first mate cruise around the lake offering stories about the history of the area.

Guests will be delighted to hear a number of classic stories about the Lake Sumter area and its history. They will learn everything from how the lake came to be to the history behind the lighthouse, which is the most recognized symbol of Lake Sumter Landing. You'll certainly want to be sure to bring your camera or binoculars on this voyage, because there will be so much to see!

The boat tours are noted for being family friendly, and are a great activity for when the grandchildren come to visit. The tours run seven days a week from 4 PM until sunset. Many Villagers recommend taking the last tour right at sunset because of the beautiful views of the sun setting across the lake. This will provide the ultimate nightcap after a romantic dinner at Lake Sumter Landing.

In addition to the standard daily tours, the Lake Sumter Line also offers tours for private parties and special holiday-themed tours at different times of the year. This could be a great way for a group to enjoy a special event or holiday! For more information on these specialty tours, they recommend contacting the Lake Miona Recreation Center by phone.

The best part about the Lake Sumter Boat Tours is that they never get boring. Even if you've experienced the tour multiple times, it is virtually impossible to grow tired of the beautiful scenery and the peaceful feeling of cruising across the lake. For the minimal fee that the Lake Sumter Line charges per passenger, this is they type of attraction you will want to see over and over again.

Unfortunately, when my family came for our LSL, the lake was too low for the boat tour, but it’s one thing we will do on our next visit. Thanks for the articles, Ryan. They continually remind us of what to look forward to as we plan our retirement. Whether we snowbird or FROG, The Villages is defintely in our plans!
