Quilt Pattern: BQ Nation Quilt (2024)

Here is the first pattern for the BQ Nation series quilts.

BQ quilt pattern shows 18 inches quilt blocks featuring an off center 12 inches square. It has no inset seams and is borderless for an up tempo look. Choose from the following quilt sizes to start your next project.

Project Finished Sizes:

• Queen: 90 inches x 108 inches – 30 blocks
• Large Lap: 54 inches x 72 inches -12 blocks
• Wall: 48 inches x 48 inches – 4 blocks
• Baby Big Quilt (BBQ) with a 9 inches version of the sets of 6 block

In the BQ2 Quilt pattern we have to move the center squares off center and cross the frames for a bigger quilt. Same as the BQ quilt , the BQ2 Quilt is also borderless for an uptempo look.

Project Finished Sizes:

• Large Lap : 54 inches x 72 inches (12 – 18 inches blocks)
• Large Lap : 54 inches x 67.5 inches (20 -13.5 inches blocks)
• Queen : 90 inches x 108 inches (30 – 18 inches blocks)
• Twin : 67.5 inches x 81 inches (30 – 13.5 blocks)

Here is the 3rd sequel to the BQ quilt. BQ3 has a slightly angled 2 color side segment and a corner stone. It still uses the large 18” blocks with a 12” center and also the half size blocks – 9”.

Project Finished Sizes:

• Wall : 40 inches x 40 inches
• Large Lap : 54 inches x 72 inches
• Twin : 72 inches x 90 inches
• Queen : 90 inches x 108 inches

9 inches blocks

• 32 inches x 41 inches
• 41 inches x 50 inches

The 4th BQ sequel consists of a mix of squares and rectangles. The finished blocks measure 12 inches X 12 inches and 24 inches X 24 inches which you can mix and match whatever you like. Same with the other BQ quilt patterns the centers are still off center for the BQ4 quilt.

• 24 inches x 36 inches
• 60 inches x 72 inches
• 96 inches x 108 inches
• 36 inches x 48 inches
• 72 inches x 96 inches

The 5th BQ quilt sequel pattern is perfect for precuts. It has a big off center focus with a pinwheel or accent splash, your choice. The pinwheels don’t require sharp points as they are just flat top diagonal. Enjoy this quilt patterns two different layout options.

• 36 inches x 36 inches
• 54 inches x 72 inches
• 90 inches x 108 inches

13.5 inches block

• 27 inches x 40.5 inches
• 40.5 inches x 54 inches black/white on cover
• 54 inches x 67.5 inches black/bright on cover

If you are into mini quilting then this BQ sequel is for you. BQ Mini blocks are ¼ the size of the original 18 inches BQ block, it measures 4-½ inches finished. Put together the 4 designs or make them all the same then you can create runners or placemats.

• 13 ½ inches x 18 inches

Runners:

• 18 inches x 76 ½ inches or
• 18 inches x 45 inches

The 6th BQ quilt sequel is here. BQ6 quilt has a big off center focus set off by bracket frames. You can create a scrappy quilt project using the bonus block diagrams and an assortment of fabrics for each segment of the block.

The last BQ sequel is the BQ DoubleTime quilt. In this quilt pattern, frame around both top and around the bottom for BQ DoubleTime. Place something special and memorable on the center then choose dark and light accent fabrics for the frame.

Debbie Bowles loves to use Fusible Fleece 987F or Fusible Thermolam Plus TP971F as the batting on table runners because it is so thin.
