Restaurant

Red Garden Food Paradise is a bustling food court located on Penang Road, offering a wide variety of local and international cuisine. The ambience is reminiscent of the vibrant Gurney Drive, with ample parking and a nearby night market selling souvenirs and local handicrafts. Despite its grungier atmosphere, the convenient location makes it worth visiting for affordable yet excellent fare such as lok-lok, Assam laksa, rojak, Thai dishes, sushi, and Filipino food.

Tried these three at here~The portions are very generous, the environment is comfortable and clean and the taste is absolutely amazing!~Reasonable price and the service is very good too! Thumbs up for these!👍🏻👍🏻

Crystal Chee — Google review

So many food outlets here. Some of the food is great, some was less so. But a fun atmosphere with so many people dining ... was really busy at 9pm on a Wednesday. And then there is the stage and the live music ... definitely adds to the experience!

Patrick McDougall — Google review

This place is great if you like a variety of average tasting foods from South East Asia and the Middle East - there's also a karaoke contest running in the background for entertainment which adds to the atmosphere. But if you want proper Penang hawker food then there are better places to eat where the service is fast and you don't have to wait 45 minutes for your order to be forgotten or delivered to the wrong table! The food will be more authentic elsewhere too and of a better quality, I'm sure...

Ivan Ng — Google review

High Saturday night. Come here to having relax time with family. The food court have variety choice of food stalls. Also have live band during night time. Nice place for eat and drink here.

BOON LEONG TAN — Google review

A place with many choices for people to choose from. We patronised the Traditional curry place for fried fish, vegetables, vinegar fried pork ribs and salted egg tofu. Taste good.

Boon Pong Ying — Google review

With everything going on I have to say one thing. The manner in which they have maintained the cleanliness is extremely to the point. Everything is organised and executed splendidly. The food will not be the issue here. My pick was the grilled prawns. Followed by the lamb and chicken skewers. Try whatever you want. I can assert to you that you will not be disappointed. It's the overall experience that matters. They serve drinks here too!!!

george joseph — Google review

I usually don't fancy eating at one of these food courts in Penang when there are so many other options available. But it was pretty late and most stores were closed, so we decided to give this a try.Sadly there were many stores already not operating and the only a couple of stores serve Penang food. But to our surprise, the food stores we selected were really good. Had the Dumplings & skewered pork from the China food stall & the "oh jien" (fried oyster omelette) from another stall, surprisingly really good. Can't comment on the others but if you're there, I recommended you these stores.

Wai Hoe ?Wandering Wally? Yap — Google review

Good hawker food, lots of choice.I would recommend food from Little Hong Kong, Sui Yang Dumplings, Crispy Chinese Pancake, Wantan Mee and Fat Master Fish.Drink orders are taken by the servers walking around. You then go to the stall you want food from, order and tell them a table number. All paid at the table. Some stalls are over priced so just take your time to browse around and take your pick for the best price. I did not pay over RM10 for a big main dish.

Daniel Everard — Google review

To be fair it’s a relatively clean semi open air food centre with a good choice of food stalls, and an easy ordering system. You get a table and go around ordering food with your table number and they bring it to you and you pay at the table. The prices were reasonable and most of the dishes were not bad, just not great. I guess I just had greater expectations. Met a few locals who told me this place was too expensive for them. BTW we stayed at Cheong Fatt Tze next door and now we know why there was loud music all evening till midnight, it came from this food centre!

Serene Dubois-Lee — Google review

A great place to go if you can’t make up your mind on what to eat as the place has pretty much everything. Everything we had was good!

D Tan — Google review

This is a famous food court within Penang city. It is not very large, with various small restaurants surrounding the area, and the center is filled with red tables and chairs, making it quite crowded. The environment does not appear very comfortable or clean, essentially on the level of a street food stall. There is also a small stage inside, with a display next to it announcing the content and timing of performances. What surprised me is that in such a Muslim country, there are transgender performances every Thursday. There are various types of cuisine available here, including Thai, Chinese, and Malaysian food. I chose Chinese dumplings, which tasted quite good. The prices are slightly cheaper than restaurants outside.Beer is very expensive, as are other drinks.

Bars Bars — Google review

Daytime served food.. Night time, it's stage singing show, drinking and small Food eating place. Very nice stage singing and only singing show but different singers every night. Music starts at 830pm. Show time is 1030pm to 11pm. Drinkers get front row table. Non drinkers sit at back. The place is clean and the show is nice. One can offer artificial flowers, Head band and others for the singers with charges. Nice place to go at night. No air-con but fan but not so hot. Car park no problem. Recommended to go for drink.

Cegumi Egumi — Google review

I love Red Garden Food! It is so affordable and the vibe is nice. There is a specific little Chinese stand that has the best fried dumplings for around 12 ringgits! It’s my favorite and I highly recommend. The Thai food is also very good!

leb — Google review

Simple dinner, we had nachos and buffalo wings at That's Nachos Cheese . Nachos were very tasty but the buffalo wings are out of this world. Highly recommended guys....The shop is located in the same row as traditional curry kitchen towards the end.

Ranjit Singh — Google review

1. “Satay” is very normal, the taste didnt go into the meat, and the kuah is tasteless.2. “Tomyam fried rice” is OMG. I guess they fry the rice tgt with tomyam soup as the fried rice is served in wet, and the taste is totally no tomyam flavour, I just feel sour.3. “Hokkien mee” is normal, the soup is lack of prawn taste.4. “Grill pork stick” 五花肉烤串 is okay, the meat is grilled very well.

David — Google review

A great dining place serving authentic Penang local food delights. The duck egg fried Kway Teow was really good and cheap at RM10 a plate with generous portion of the prawns. I like the Thai food there too. Will go eat there again next time. They have live band performances at night and brought vibrant vibes to the residents. Residents were seen dancing in pairs to the music.

Doreen Luah — Google review

Great variety of stalls serving food from all over the world. The prices are a bit higher than other hawker stall areas nearby, but it is still affordable. You can buy a beer and enjoy live music, so I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Josh co*ckeram — Google review

Here you will find all the world's cuisines and over 20 food stands offering specialties from all over the world. Live music every evening, amazing place, very tasty food, atmosphere attracts many people. I recommend !

Lusi Kowa — Google review

Many different food stalls, some are very tasty. There's a Thai place with a decent Som Tam and a Chinese place with some great cooked pork ears, Char Kway Teow place also deserves a visit. There is live music in the evening.

Cyril Karpenko — Google review

Try the Thai food here! I was hesitant at first because im in Malaysia but it tastes super authentic. Everything I had, mango sticky rice, kangkung, and gapao rice.I’m only here for 2 days but I came back a second time to get the mango sticky rice because it was THAT good. Super fresh and sweet. The rice was perfectly cooked too. Also tried 2 other stalls. Lots of variety of foods here and surprisingly, not just local foods.

CL L — Google review

Went there because it was raining and we couldn't go Chulia Street. Tried duck egg char kuay tiao, satay, chicken wings, orh luak and wanton mee. Generally quite disappointing especially the char kuay tiao only the orh luak and wanton mee tasted not bad. Definitely a tourist trap with tourist prices and mediocre taste. Not recommended really.

Flea & Street Markets

The Batu Feringghi Night Market is a popular attraction in Penang, Malaysia that boasts numerous small shops and roadside stalls selling food, accessories, and clothing until late at night. Visitors can indulge in an array of mouthwatering cuisine while shopping for affordable souvenirs to take home. The market also offers pubs and nightclubs for those who prefer to drink or party their last day away.

The night market and the adjacent beach are both amazing! We appreciate the ability to get good souvenirs right alongside the beach. It made our trip really efficient. I would add that the beach is not for small children. The current is drop and it gets deep quickly. This beach is more suited for parasailing or jet skis than snorkeling or sandcastle building. Plan accordingly!

Sweety Bhosure — Google review

Night market with numerous souvenirs, some vendors force you to buy their items. Overall it's an excellent experience. The parking costs RM5, better to park near shops

RASHVAYANI — Google review

The place is good close to beach. There are so many shops and restaurants. Although its a busy tourists place but price is not too high. The foods quality and taste was good. In night it is more attractive and enjoyable. There so many residence hotel and bar. I anyone like to drink they can do it with the view of sea.

Md Sazedul Haque — Google review

I liked this place before coz its very happening at night, but now its not that many sellers here but it still worth it to come and buy something for souvenir

Aini Messi — Google review

If you are looking for some exotic souvenir or gifts this will be the perfect place. The food supermarket is too good with superb variety items. Compared to Kulalampur it's expensive but the goodies and food are unique.

Veena Nair — Google review

We had dinner at the Delicious Snack stall at the back of the food court and was blown away at how great the food was… ended up having dinner 3 times! Highly recommend the prawns done with the garlic and chili’s and their stir fried greens!!! So much better than the resort food!

Y D — Google review

Followed SOP strictly but visitors gathering and walking is not proper but can be better with more enforcement staffs ..anyway still enjoyable

Khan Sayem — Google review

The roti canai stall exceptional. The food is marvelous..try it!!

Minnie Sofea — Google review

The parking is rm7 which is expensive. Just like you were parking inside a mall in kuala lumpur but the parking spot is mediocre. Not worth my rm7. 💀The souvenirs such as penang shirt, toys, gadget accessories, keychains, fridge magnets, etc is available here. Try to ask for discounts because most of the times, the price doesn't make any sense. 💸There's not so much food stalls? Just go to the nearby fast foods restaurant like McDonald's/ starbucks nearby. By the way, this night market is very long. It just by the side of the road. 😶

QiGenius (Qi Genius) — Google review

A great spot for shopping and walking around. A pleasant environment.

Tahir Shakir — Google review

The place is very good, next to the beach, food is not expensive. The service from the shop is very good. In the early evening from 19:30-20:00 there is a fire show on the beach.

Tanong prasongsuk — Google review

Good food with cheaper price. However bags and souvenirs are cheaper in George town

Nice beach. Great for family gatherings. Bring your picnic and umbrella to shelter from sun 🌞

Claire Tyrrell — Google review

I love this site, you could walk to visit and buy something you want.

Nguyen Tuan — Google review

The atmosphere is calm and comfortable, there are many souvenir stalls and restaurants serving local and foreign cuisine.

Dim sum restaurant

Tai Tong Restaurant, located in the heritage shophouses of Chinatown, is a historic teahouse that serves traditional dim sum not only for breakfast but also for lunch and dinner. The restaurant maintains the dim sum tradition by employing elderly ladies to push trolleys loaded with various dishes around the tables. Customers eagerly crowd around the waitresses to pick up plates of shrimp dumplings and rice flour rolls filled with barbecued pork.

This is my repeated visit and go to place for dimsum when I visit Penang. Really like the char siew bun as the skin is thin and full of sweet pork fillings! Post COVID days, they seems to have a dedicated stations to pick up your own food. Menu could be more prominent. Will visit again in the future!

Weekday morning was crowded but able to get a seat easily.Need to take the items ourselves from the various counters (3 different lines) but all cramped at one area. A bit squeezy feel.Personally feel the dim sum average. Nothing special but just to try out a local dim sum outlet.

J C — Google review

Has to be one of the best places in town for dim sum. We were lucky to go in early for breakfast and didn't have to wait very long. The queues starting forming soon enough and it got pretty crowded. But that is also the charm of the place. It is buzzing and loud, the service may feel borderline brusque and the restaurant is a bit chaotic and untidy. But hey, you're there for the dim sum and they are top-notch. That's the magnet that draws the hungry droves in. We loved it. And the taste still lingers 😋.

Sriranjan Chaudhuri — Google review

Food was OK, but we were expecting something special given the hype and the popularity. Ordering was by choosing the dim sum (didn't see any menu) at the stall and was quite stressful because there were people behind waiting for you to finish ordering. I quickly pointed to a few dim sums which looked good and one of them happened to be an expensive item. Ouch!

LP Pua — Google review

Food is good, price range is on high side. But please don't come on weekends or Public Holiday, even 8am queue to order food is still way too long, steamed item counter, fried team counter and then Pau counter all separated, and queue are really too long, when we finally ordered all the dimdum items, some of it already turn cold.Popular iteam also unable to replenish on time as well.Staff are friendly, environment is clasic Penang non-aircon colonial style of 茶楼!

Alexander AikTuan, Oo — Google review

There’s a crowd on a weekday late morning when we visited but the wait was reasonable. It has the traditional vibe of a Chinese yum chai restaurant. Just be prepared for the heat from all the steaming and crowd. The taste of the food simply just made up for all its shortcomings! The fundamental taste is right, which many restaurants has lost though the years.Their staff isn’t rude and very efficient. Get things done quickly. You will refill the hot water for your tea by yourself. This really solve all the aggravation of trying to get someone for a refill.Totally recommends this restaurant. Hope to be back there again soon!

Kerk Low — Google review

Very yummy classic dimsum, highly recommend the siew mai and egg tarts. The steamed buns / pau here are not good (lotus paste, red bean, custard doesn't taste good). What I love about the dimsum here is that it's not too oily and full of fats like some other dimsum eateries around. The place gets packed fast so it's best to come early. We came at 8.45am and there was already a queue. Parking is quite problematic as there's many dim sum shops around the area.RM80 for 4 pax, reasonable price.

Cherry Lee — Google review

The service at this restaurant is very good, and the food is served quickly. The prices are a bit high, but all kinds of dim sum are very delicious.

Bars Bars — Google review

This old restaurant, you can ordered dishes or you can order dim sum. Can taste the "wok hei" on the Char Hor Fun, fried rice and still taste the same as I had it since I was young. The dim sum also very fresh and delicious. Missed seeing all the friendly old aunties serving the dim sum. Overall, price is very reasonable.

Lake Keen — Google review

Been here 4 years ago and still as busy as we recalled it.Even with long lines, we didn't waited for longer than 15 mins to get a table for 3. Dim sums were fresh and (self) service were fast.

Alan Chung — Google review

There are many dim sum places in George Town, and this is one I find good to keep on visiting. For me, the Pork ribs are the MVP of the store. It's tender, savoury, and not overly tough where it feels like a game of tug of war. The chicken feet are good too if you like the gelatous skin. Char siew buns are however lack fillings and a bit too sweet for me. Service are prompt where they will guide you to your table. Your "score card" will be issued after you order drinks. Proceed to order from the various counter, and before you leave with your food. The crew will mark the damages on your score card. Leaving without surrendering it will most certainly be shown a yellow/red card. I'm just kidding. Have a good chat with family and friends over touch hearts session.

Lan zheng sheng — Google review

A self service restaurant filled with lots of tang long (during visit). Taller individuals, it's game of duck and avoid. Food was nice and exceed my expectations. Love the atmosphere.

A to the Y — Google review

Still one of the best dim sum place in penang. Come here day or night also will be full. Price is reasonable as well. The food ordered from the kitchen serves up pretty quickly too. Dim sum and fried ones are self service. Just bring your card on the table for them to note down what you've taken.

Mr Nomad — Google review

Affordable dim sum (by Singapore std), RM 106 for 4 pax. Nice old school vibe, trolley of food being pushed around for your selection. Food is above average.

Seng Hock Chang — Google review

There are many people waiting, mainly tourists. Not sure if it has been oversell on social media. Luckily we had ordered 3 items only, the siew mai is super salty, I thought my palate has degraded but it was validated by my friend too. Not the best dim sum I had.

Khoo Chee Yam — Google review

The dim sum was mediocre, with anything containing meat being just bad and having an off texture, and the sweets tasting better than the rest. If you haven't been to a push cart dim sum place this might be fun, but don't go for the food.

Javier Kohen — Google review

decent place for decent dimsum, wouldn’t spend more than 30mins queueing for sure. quite old school concept with staff pushing the trolley with the dimsum for you to pick, just pass your order paper for them to mark the price of the items u took. pay at the cashier after your meal.siewmai felt v normal, the fried beancurd skin roll was quite good. egg tart crust was v crispy and the egg in the middle was soft. the chicken feet was v generous but the marination was quite normal, not impressive.the staff i deal with was quite ok and wasn’t rude as what some previous comments say, maybe i was lucky.dimsums were pretty affordable, averaging 5rm or less. they only accept cash.

Restaurant

Sri Ananda Bahwan in Tanjung Bungah is a spacious and inviting Indian restaurant known for serving the best Indian cuisine in Penang. Its reputation for delicious food is well-deserved, as the flavors are exceptional and unrivaled elsewhere. However, there seems to be a lack of consistency in terms of quality and quantity during dinner service, which should be addressed by management to maintain customer satisfaction.

My favorite Indian chain restaurant in Penang Island. Price is reasonable, place is clean and food is fantastic.Highly recommend the Fish fillet Butter Masala. Must try.Mee Goreng is also very nice.

Joo Hock Gooi — Google review

I like this restaurant because it has traditional style Indian cuisine, there are vegetarian dishes, the service can be haphazard so relax and enjoy tasty food at a reasonable price.

Stanley Wilson — Google review

We visited here 6 years ago and were very impressed with food quality and price. We read some more recent reviews and were a little concerned that perhaps things were not as good, particularly after COVID. We were not disappointed at all. Food just as we remembered, fresh and quick. We had more of the North Indian meals, which are our favourites and would love if we could access food this good for the price back in Sydney.

V good mutton briyani. Great fresh fruit juices. Reasonable prices considering the lovely set up inside. We went on a weekday, weekends are usually packed. Parking can get quite chaotic as there’s no proper car park, and you’ll need to park considerately at the neighborhood at the back and walk a bit.

To start off, I have no idea who put all these good reviews and how ?? We just went there to the Tanjung Bungah outlet . There is no access to the AC dining area, unless you are a group of 20. So be prepared to sit in a hot hall with fans. Next, the veg meals on banana leafs were as bland as bland can get. The non veg gravies were very very average too. The plates they serve on were stained with curry color and they said they tried hard to wash it clean but it doesn’t go away. Duh buy new plates mate ! Ouch I regret spending my time and money there. Would never visit again. Note- poor waiters look so demotivated and dull …not an iota of welcome on their faces . I just wanted to get out of there. I went there only cos of the reviews I read.

This is my first time trying Indian food, I was surprised at the deliciousness of the food at this restaurant, the taste is very typical of Indian curries mixed with lamb, it's really delicious. In addition, the seafood soup here is no less special, the seafood meat is very fresh and crispy, melts in the mouth with the typical taste and broth of Malaysian dishes. The space here is very spacious and airy, has a very fragrant and typical Indian scent, the staff is very polite and friendly while talking with customers, more especially the food and drinks here are very cheap, only from RM5 you can enjoy a delicious food.

Indian restaurant

Woodlands Vegetarian Restaurant in Penang is a strictly vegetarian eatery with an extensive menu that includes authentic South Indian dishes like dosas, vadas, and idlis. The restaurant offers a cozy and warm ambiance, making it perfect for a family outing or casual date. They serve traditional South Indian food such as dosas with chutney and sambhar, as well as North Indian fares like salted lassi.

Quite a spacious restaurant serving vegetarian Indian food. It has a very large selection of dishes. We ate lunch there. The food was more than very good. I will definitely go back there when I'm in George Town again. The restaurant is located near Pinang Peranakan Mansion.

We were having Tea Break for some light food and Lassi drinks.Great place for Dosai (Tosai), Puree, Noodles, Vadai, and other favorite South Indian foods. This time, we ordered the Masala Dosai, Rava Masala Dosai, Briyani Set, Vadai Set, Chilly Garlic Noodles (Spicy), Vegetables Noodles, Mushroom 65, Aloo Gobi, Chenna (Large Puri) Batura, and Special Vadai.Notable food which we loved are Aloo Gobi, Vadai, Rava Masala Dosai, and Mushroom 65.Great food, good selection of dishes but limited space.

I went to Woodlands after seeing a 4.2 rating. I was disappointed with the Maharaja Thali, it didn’t meet my expectations as the food was below average and didn’t feel fresh. Though there was a lot of variety in the Thali. The service is just okay. We ordered Thali and 2 fresh orange juice. Wanted to order Dosa’s but then cancelled the order as we didn’t have a great experience. The washroom was awfully kept and not hygienic. Didn’t enjoy our meal.

We arrived at 12-ish noon and expected a crowd (it was on a Saturday) and to our surprise, the restaurant was quite empty.Since it was our first time, we were being upfront with the waitress and she explained on the suggested meals. Thanks for the help!We ordered them and loved every taste of it. It was a lunch set by the way, where my husband and I ordered 2 different sets.Taste was packed with flavours, tasted fresh and delicious. The portion was big too. Left the restaurant feeling satisfied.Would come back for the food in our next visit!

Part of unexpected adventure in Penang,- happily found this place and enjoyed lunch. Great Samosas,- and several other dishes. Atmosphere is a bit cold, staff normal. Authentic, tasty Indian food,- not touristy and easy for all vegan/ vegetarian lovers. Can recommend woodlands for good value.

Good quality - 10/10 it’s seriously tasty and I would keep coming back here.Location 8/10 - within little India . It’s a challenge to look for parking but with determination you can find one or park further and walk. It’s worth it as the food here is good!Price 10/10 - fairly priced.Service 10/10 - crew is attentive and food is served fairly quickly.I recommend this place for good Indian Vegetarian food. I’ll just keep coming back!

I found Woodlands Vegetarian Restaurant to be worth visiting for the food, but prepare for a cold reception. The naan is excellent, the portions are pretty filling, the price is actually very good considering other Indian restaurants in the area (see menu). The vegetable butter masala, chenna masala, and palak paneer were tasty but they all respectively lacked the little extra veg, chickpea, and cheese that would have made 5 star review, although the sauce was plentiful and very tasty. Overall it wasn’t very spicy but that’s fine by me!

Came here for dinner as we were craving for Indian vegetarian food. The place was super crowded but we managed to find a place for 2. Ordered vegetarian briyani, panner manchurian, sambar vadai and a mango lassi. Sambar vadai was outstanding along with mango lassi. Vege briyani and panner manchurian was good too. Recommended for vegan foodies. 🌱🍴

As I continued on my Michelin guide journey, I had a delightful breakfast at Woodlands Vegetarian Indian restaurant. I savored a well-rounded Indian breakfast selection, complete with generous servings of dipping sauces that. The flavors were great, and the prices were reasonable. Drinks was served in a small stainless steel cup. I can say that I'll be returning for another delectable Indian meal in the future.

Very good pure vegetarian option in george town area in little india.I visited here almost daily twice when i was in george town.Food was good/great.Prices were also good.If the owner is reading this.Train your employees.Restaurant workers shud be more friendly/flexible and jolly and shud know the basic principles of being flexible. Both the cashiers in the morning and in the evening definitely definitely need more training or if possible change them and appoint a new one pay lil extra money if needed. One day i came at around 9pm, i was their and they knew it and people after me went and their orders were taken and the cashier guy told me that no more orders. Its felt so bad.But luckily we came here daily so one waiter became familiar with us and took our order without asking anyone. These small things brings huge difference in longer run.Giving 5 star only coz the food was good and that one staff who was friendly

I've personally been to Udupi woodlands in india.this is nothing at all compared to India woodlands. Food is salty. People here are being stingy with their paneer. In India, we get big chunks of paneer, but here we get small 4 piece only. Miss you Udupi woodlands!😭

Really tasty food. Always busy so you need patience to order. But the quality and price (good value) is worth it.It looks a little unassuming but has a big menu and great vegetarian alternatives to all the chicken somewhere else. The place is not big so be early (before 7pm) or plan for some wait time.Even have some food you don’t find in usual Indian places.

Depends on the time you come in, the atmosphere can be mixed either relaxed or can be bit noisy. Good place for vegetarian. Options can be limited during breakfast. More options available during lunch and dinner. One of the thing I would recommend to try is the Mini Tiffin set. Dont be fool by the name mini but its really quite huge for breakfast meal. Definitely worth trying it for the price!

Gus Erwin Singh — Google review

I fell in love with the briyani set (can be veganised) and had to come back again. There’s something about how flavourful and juicy the rice is, and the set is really worth it for the size. I have to take away because it’s good for 1.5 meals.

Vegetable Thali set and fried paneer were good. Restaurant was a little cold. Service is quite good and not as bad as reviews suggest.

My favourite spot for Indian Vegetarian Breakfast, and I dare say the BEST in Penang. Everything I've tried here so far are lip smacking good! Ghee dosa is golden brown, rava dosa is nice and moru-moru (crispy), masala dosa's potato filling is perfect, idlis are soft and spongy, all these with the (udupi?) sambar coupled with 2 chutneys brings out next level emotions if you're an Indian breakfast person. Then, the Madras coffee to wash it all down with. Tripti, sampoorna tripti!

Delicious vegetarian Indian food. We ordered so much food. All the dishes are great :)Will be back to visit next time I'm in Penang.

Restaurant is a bit chaotic, always busy, but food is indeed excellent and very cheap. For the most Instagrammable dishes, try the Chenna Batura and the Paper Dosai (have in mind that the latter is not available between 12pm and 4pm!).

A shambles. We arrived and were still waiting for food after we ordered 30 mins previously. Some local people who came after us were served.Staff were not bothered and no concern- we paid for our drinks and left.A local regular who was collecting (and also had to wait) said with the listing in the Michelin guide, the restaurant has struggled to cope with extra demand and had no system in place.Baffles me that this place is in the 2024 Michelin guide as you'd expect it would have been re-assesed post 2023.

First time exploring Penang and not eating the usual breakfast fare. A local recommended this place as this was his favourite breakfast place for 25 years and if it has lasted this long, definitely something must be good about it. We ordered the Poori, Ghee Dosai and also the Onion and tomato Uttampan. The Poori was hot and fluffy and delicious. The ghee thosai was not only super crispy but the taste of ghee was excellent and I also enjoyed it. The uttampan was a first for me, not even knowing what it was. We were recommended to try it out and boy there were no regrets. It’s a South Indian style pancake filled with onions and tomato (that’s what we chose, there are other fillings). Super crispy at the side and soft in the middle, this pancake was very filling and best eaten with the chutney served with it.

Mark Leo — Google review

Tried out this vegetarian Indian restaurant for teatime as they were listed in the michelin guide. We had idli, thosai, vadai & tea. It was just okay. Cutney was sedap. Shop was quite compact and noisy as it was full house. Waiters were quite ignorant. Had to signal them quite a few times to place order. However, food was served within 5 mins. Good place for vegetarians.

Hawker stall

Chinese noodle restaurant

Fujian restaurant

This is a hawker stall that specializes in Hokkien mee. The mee is usually served with egg and some kind of pork roast, and it's usually very good. It can be a bit pricey, but it's worth it if you're a fan of this type of food.

Probably one of the most iconic dishes of Penang is the Hokkien Mee (mee yoke if you're not from Penang). And this stall is probably one of the more famous ones in town. It's located just next to the Presgrave Street Hawker Center, housed in it's own location now, when it used to be part of the hawker centre years ago.Parking is literally non existent along Presgrave Street, and many a time, you'll see lots of cars double parked with the driver waiting for take away orders. You might even have to park down the road along Presgrave Street Ghaut, about 200m away to get here.Having its own location ensures seating inside for patrons. It's decked out like any other coffee shop in Penang, you can be sure to find a place to sit down easily while waiting for your order. You could order your drinks from the coffee shop or try the Ice Kacang from the stall located right outside this coffee shop.As far as the Hokkien Mee is concerned, it is a hearty bowl of spicy shrimp soup with noodles. Waiting about 15 minutes is common, and add more time to this waiting period if it gets busy.

Been recommended by local friends. This restaurant is just near by our hotel (The Wembley) for 10-min walking.Noisy and crowed. Many people is lining up. Some of them are not locals. The noodle tasted good. My friend think it is too salty.Worthy to try once.

Was told by a Grab driver that the place didn't live up to its expectations as it did in its prior days of glory, but we came anyway because it was a close walk from the hotel. By golly did we not regret it. Not sure how high was the Grab driver's expectations but the food here was great, far exceeding our expectations. We ordered Hokkian mee (prawn mee) with braised egg and siu yuk, duck egg char kuay teow, pork satay, and ochien. It was the perfect symphony of Penang hawker food - superbly delicious. The prawn mee broth was full-bodied, the char kuay teow had "wok hei" and large, juicy prawns, the pork satay was lean but not dry, and the ochien had really large, juicy oysters that burst with every bite.We also loved that food was served in smaller portions so two of us could try a variety of dishes without pigging out (I'm lying. We definitely pigged out a bit). The food service was also prompt and efficient. Zero complains.

Christopher Gerald — Google review

This place is my favourite hokkien mee shop in George Town, Penang. You can add roasted pork, braised pork ribs, and braised pork leg meat. Why do I like the hokkien mee here so much? It's because they have tasty and flavourful soup. Accompanying by nice chilli paste and add on condiments. Over there, there are other choices of food. Like the char kwek teow, oysters omelette and tomyam chicken satay. The tomyam chicken satay was a first for me, and they were delicious yummy! Nice tomyam taste and the satay were bbq just right.....meat was tender. We all enjoyed the iced lemon jelly drink, which was good and refreshing. Highly recommended.

Portion of the food is small but the price tagged as big portion price. Some of the food taste not so delicious. However, some really tasty like Fried Siew mai, Fried Prawn roll, and Dumpling. Others I feel common and not reach my expectation. Queue up for so long but at last the food taste normal.

LOO BAO JIE — Google review

One of the most famous Har Mee and Char Kuey Teow in Town. But the price also more expensive compared to other places in Penang. It’s KL price. For the Hokkien mee (Har Mee) can try Hokkien Loh which mix 2 types of soup in a bowl of noodles, this is my favourite way to enjoy this noodles. The CKT has many big prawns that’s why it’s charged at RM15.Ice kacang and Ice Jelly are just okay.

Had dinner with my family at this Hokkien Mee stall today. The place is crowded and full of the smell of the Hokkien Mee🍜.They opened at 5pm and it's advisable to arrive at 5pm to get a table. The noodles and ingredients are freshly prepared daily. The consistency of the soup Is thick and yummy, full of shrimp 🍤 flavour. Big portions and add on just under RM10 or a normal bowl at RM6. The serving was fast and the taste is great. Large portions of meat , egg and dried shrimp 🍤.The flavor of shrimp with it's combination of chili paste makes anyone's mouth water! It has been a symbol of Penang famous food and has passed down for two generations. A stall favoured by locals and tourists. The satay beside is also a must try with traditional charcoal grill. It serves chicken, mutton and pork satay at just under RM2 each.

Definitely a must visit for local food and experience. Prices are lower than 'tourist' prices. Definitely try the prawn noodles (hokkien mee) and adding ingredients is a must. It is crowded during meal hours and difficult to get seats.

Wai Peng Ong — Google review

Hokkien mee was very good indeed, way higher than my expectations. We ordered a hokkien mee, add noodles, add siew yoke, add pork intestines and an extra egg and it only costs us RM13. Definitely something that you couldn't get in KL.The soup is something to die for!!! So rich, so flavourful, we finished the whole bowl of soup!We also ordered o jian, not the best but it was still better than a lot of o jians out there. Oysters were fresh and they were quite generous with it.Will definitely go back when we visit Penang again.

Krystal Cheong — Google review

Recommended by a local Penang friend and I love it!I don't eat prawns and the seller was nice to not include it. I'm not sure if she added other ingredients to replace it but I'm happy with the food and the portion which cost RM7.Rather accessible from Hotel JEN. Walk towards 1st avenue mall and cross the road. Walk straight till you see a busy street :)It is a little stuffy from where I'm sitting inside but small portion of food, eat and go!Edit:Went back to have the hokkien mee and also tried the ice kacang with ice cream (RM5.60). Not bad! Not too sweet.

Our Penang trip excursion a very food based one with us hunting for Michelin star food while mixing it with local food. For the people who don’t know, Malaysia’s Hokkien Mee scene is quite a delicate subject since everyone claims their noodles are the best. In summary, Penang’s hokkien mee is essentially prawn mee with a rich prawn broth while KL’s is fried dark soy sauce with pork lard and liver.I am a simple person, I like prawn and I like noodles. The broth is mouth-wateringly good as I compared a few bowls of prawn noodles in Penang prior to this meal. It’s a wholesome comfort food to me in a shophouse setting, very nostalgic! There’s always a line here and I recommend you politely ask to share tables. It can get abit hot here so you’ll probably eat and leave really quick.

Fried oyster with egg- taste good, but the texture might vary for each person- normal priceHokkien mee(har mee)- taste great among har mee at Penang- price: Rm 9 (add mee and roasted pork)- small portion, if you are a big eater, please add mee

Jason Yap — Google review

After 3 years of covid, came back to eat the prawn mee and it tasted as good! Nothing change except for the long queue now! Suggest to go around 5pm to avoid the queues! Closed on Thursday, open on Other days!My order is always Prawn Mee, add on pork rib and roasted pork!!Amazing!

Daniel Tan — Google review

Satisfying bowls of Hokkien prawn mee with crispy pork on the side. The noodles were well-cooked, complemented by flavourful prawns and delicious broth, and garnished with fried shallots, strips of pork and hard-boiled eggs, and a spoon of chilli. The addition of crispy pork added an extra layer of texture and taste. Overall a delightful meal that comes recommended.

You go here for the prawn mee, but the lor mee is also good. Inexpensive but flavorful food. There's also a stall here that sells oyster omelette and cendol.

Brian Tamase — Google review

The best prawn mee in the town. Since it’s just a hawker stall, I don’t expect they offer the best service, instead focus on what taste they can offer. If you’re concern about service and environment, maybe you can consider the shop called Communal Table, which is just in front of this stall.

Lee Sian Loong — Google review

Fully deserves its Michelin recommendation.✅ Cheap✅ Fast✅ GoodIt's so good that I took 2 bowls.⭐ Highly recommend adding extra ingredients such as pork belly or pork ribs.⭐ Highly recommend instant noodles version for more "bite".👍🏻 Thumbs up for friendly hawker!

Bad bad bad hokkien mee. Broth tastes weird ! No prawn aroma at all, no pork bone aroma! It’s just watered down with some artificial flavour into the broth.Won’t come back !!! And too touristy. What a shame for Michelin recommendation !

May L — Google review

Hokien Mee here and duck egg char kuey teow is highly recommended here. For Hokien mee recommend to add siew yok and for char kuew teow recommend to order their special which have extra prawn and extra egg on top.

Marcus Lim — Google review

Not too bad this bowl of Hokkien Mee, but find the soup a little too sweet. This kind of sweet can taste is not from the freshness of the ingredients, different from 云来。Added roast meat, but not crispy at all, make me feel wasting money adding it.

Nickuz Ong — Google review

Love the Hokkien Mee (aka Prawn Mee as it's called in other states of Malaysia) here!Basically, line up in front of the store, and wait for your turn. Get your friends to find a table. When it's your turn, order the size you want, either small or large. And the noodles you want (eg mee, meehun/vermicelli, kuey teow, or instant noodle). And lastly let them know if you wanna add any toppings. I highly recommend the roast pork 👍🏻Scan the payment QR code in advance beside the noodle kiosk, so you can pay seamlessly when they're done prepping your bowl of hokkien mee.Love the broth here. It's fragrant and deeply tasty. My friend said that the sambal (the chilli they poured onto your spoon) is overpowering. Tips, remove that before you dig in. It'll also be less spicier.

Noodle shop

This noodle stall is famous for its mee sotong, either fried or the soupy variety. The food is also popular among local residents and they only offer two types of menu - mee rebus (fried noodles) and mee goreng (fried noodles with sauce). The killer menu here features both variants!

A delightful plate of mee sotong. The sambal sotong (squid) was a bomb, and I enjoyed my plate of noodle very much. Full of wok hei and the symphony of flavours just leaves you satisfied 😋 Yummmz!Be prepared to stand in the queue during lunch hour. As the noodles were cooked in batches, the line does move pretty quickly 😊

Quite a unique taste. Cant say it was good but it didnt su*k either. Never had this in Klang Valley. Yall can try just for the experience n to know what it's all about. But not a must have.

Over the years, the portion has reduced a lot. RM6 if I'm not mistaken per plate. Taste consistent like usual. But usually my family is here to eat the hainan food, so this is just an extra order. Oh btw THE COCONUT SHAKE Taste like cough medicine 😭

Azreen Reen — Google review

The one and only Mee Goreng Sotong - if you love spicy food, do ask for the extra sambal sotong option (RM7). The taste is quite unique and well worth the long queue. The queue and wait can be as long as 1 hour during peak times.Hameed Pata Mee Sotong is definitely a must visit for me every time I come to Penang. It can be a bit spicy for some, but it’s still worth a try as it’s delicious.

Mee Sotong🍜 Food wise: It is really Indian mee goreng with sotong. Very flavourful and filled with fried shallot taste along with the spring onions and a drizzle of lime. Nice! The sotong pretty much same taste as the noodles, slightly on the tough side but still quite good!✨ Ambience wise: Spacious eatery!🤵🏻 Service wise: Great! Still say thanks in mandarin, cool staff!💵 Price wise: 6 RM

Nice to try the viral food. But not really suitable to my taste. The sambal is quite similar with nasi lemak in malay and i like it.You have to also order the coconut shake, it’s very good 🤍

I decided to try this place out after getting a recommendation from a local driver. I went at 4pm on a Tuesday so there was barely anyone in line. The noodles itself is yummy and the sotong sambal is good. I wish the sotong pieces were bigger! Definitely worth trying

Ariff Suffian — Google review

When I arrived, there were only 5 people queuing so it was quite fast for me to get the food even though we had to wait for them to make new batch of mee goreng. The mee goreng is delicious and addicting but not spicy enough 🥺 and the coconut shake is delicious. My bf said it taste like medicine but this kind of drink is where I grew up with. 5 star

Zawir Aidil Zainudin — Google review

Personally i think it’s just like having normal mee goreng with sambal sotong dish on top. Decent portion of sambal sotong for the price of RM6. So it's ok, just probably overrated.

RMZ — Google review

Looks like your simple Mee Goreng Mamak with Sotong on top but the way the dish is prepared the flavour and spices is infused deep in the noodles with the special Sambal Sotong completes the dish. Totally unique and won't find anything similar elsewhere. Coconut shake goes well with this dish. Importantly the price is really reasonable! A plate goes for RM6.Located in Esplanade Park Food court, parking can be little hard to find.

Breakfast restaurant

Food court

The popular Malaysian breakfast food Ali Nasi Lemak, sold from a stall at Sri Weld Food Court at Beach Road, is crowd-pleasing and always sells out quickly. It's best to get there as early as possible in order to avoid disappointment.

Sedap giler! The level of spiciness is power and I love it. If you are not a spicy food lover or weak at tastebuds skip this. If you can take Indonesian sambals, Thai spicy food and South Korean crazy spicy noodles - this is right for you. And it’s good price for RM3. Recommended!

Lilian Lee — Google review

I’m a big fan of Nasi lemak especially the one wrapped in banana leaves. At 9:30am, there’s a long Q but they were super efficient it went quite fast. The portion for me is just perfect 👍 the rice was fragrant & first mouth, WOW! Super spicy but yummy that you want more😅 worth a try👍

Rose Liaw — Google review

One of my bucket list after watching food reviews on YouTube. For RM2 don't expect much. And true enough the fish is very small, the salty fish even smaller. It won't feel your belly unless you go for 5 packets. The chilli is very spicy unless you can handle.Overall is tasty but not worth if is long queue.

FRan — Google review

We read and watched YouTube videos on this. Although many claimed that the chili is very spicy, we like it this way.The rice was very fragrant and nice. The price makes it so much more appealing.

Choon Kit Leong — Google review

Service was fast and yeah the ladies are often frowning when selling the nasi lemak . E wallet is accepted here GrabPay and TNG, maybank .Taste of the nasi lemak , I like the spice but the texture was too wet for my liking . The nasi lemak was soaked in sambal broth ( not thick paste ) when opened . It's not the sweet sambal type . The rice was too moist. It doesn't come with condiments like kacang and cucumber. .Just a different type of nasi lemak . Everyone has a different preference , this was not mine .

Alowe — Google review

One of the my favourite nasi lemak in Penang!Loves how they offer customization the nasi lemak to your liking too.Usually goes for the standard ikan bilis and one hard boiled egg.

wx yang — Google review

Well well. Indeed it taste great. Try the basic nasi lemak ikan bilis. Little spicy for me but acceptable and also you’ll get half of the boiled egg. Usually nasi lemak bungkus you get tiny slice of egg. Good things bout this place is the stall is in the same food court, so you have varieties other food can eat together and also it has proper paid parking compound. Recommended for this nasi lemak.

Damien Koh — Google review

Love their nasi lemak! Perfect for the breakfast! Wanted to try one more time but they close early so I couldnt have another one. But it was finger licking good 👍

Leina Lee — Google review

The Nasi Lemak kiosk at Sri Weld food court is a delectable delight at an affordable RM3, making it a standout in the market.Despite recent price increases and government service tax, the owner's commitment to offering this flavorful dish at a reasonable cost deserves applause. This budget-friendly gem has rightly earned its place in the Michelin Star, showcasing not only culinary excellence but also a commendable gesture towards patrons who seek authentic, affordable Malaysian cuisine.Various of choices to choose as combination - traditional anchovies with egg, fish, salted fish with egg, squid, prawn or chicken, all for the same price despite the ingredient.

CZ — Google review

This is one of the best nasi lemak I've had. Each packet is ly Rm2, though the portion really isn't that big. Anyone can easily have 2 to get enough of it.I like the very tasty sambal but beware! It is pretty spicy and the spiciness hits you only after a while and stays on for quite some time. You can choose any flavour and they all cost the same. Personally I like the original and the salted fish one the best.Very fragrant and very hearty!

Wai Hoe ?Wandering Wally? Yap — Google review

Came in about 1pm and the Ali Nasi Lemak stall was full of Nasi Lemak packets packed in 🍌 🌿 and there was no queue! For RM2.5 I think this is a great deal and of great taste. Nor Hisham Mohd Yusof — Google review

The Michelin-rated Ali Nasi Lemak is nice and of a healthy portion (albeit a tad spicy), and very affordable at RM2.50 a pack, which is why it’s so popular with the office workers at the many banks along Beach Street. There are many flavors available, including the plain one with half an egg as well as those with Fish, Prawn, and Sotong but I just went for the standard one - which has a sizable serving of rice and condiments, making it very worth it for the price!

Before visiting the Penang Peranakan Mansion, we tried the Michelin-recognized Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang, just 300 meters away from the mansion. We had the Nasi Lemak Ikan Bilis & Egg. It was very tasty and a bit spicy. The portion size was quite small, but it was worth the price of only RM 3.5.Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang is located in a hawker center, and we also ordered some drinks and pancakes, which were quite good. The stall was very busy, with a constant stream of people buying Nasi Lemak in the morning. The experience was satisfying, and the food was delicious.

Ali Nasi LemakLocated at the entrance of the Sri Weld Food Court along Lebuh Pantai, George Town, Penang, Malaysia, is the Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang stall. As the name implies, it is Nasi Lemak wrapped in banana leaf. The stall operates on Mondays to Fridays from 7.00am to 2.00pm, Saturdays from 7.00am to 1.00pm and closed on Sundays. It is a grab and go stall. No worries. There are tables inside the food court. But you need to order a drink. Otherwise, you will be charged RM1 per person for just sitting at the table. The long queue even before the stall opens at 7.00am every morning is clear testimony of its popularity and success. The stall offers six varieties. Anchovies and half boiled egg, chicken, squid, prawn, fish and salted fish. Do not look for roasted peanuts and sliced cucumbers found in traditional nasi lemak - there are none. The stall specialty is the aromatic and coconutty rice generously capped with very hot and spicy sambal (chili paste). All the six variations of nasi lemak are priced at RM2.50 per pack. Relatively cheap.According to locals, the stall has been around for decades and has been a must try nasi lemak haven for locals and visitors. The nasi lemak is definitely delicious and exceptional. The portion is not very large. You will finish up the Nasi Lemak after 5 tablespoons. Not a surprise then to see patrons buying more than 1 (I saw one who had 3 Nasi Lemak for himself) to satisfy their appetite. And also, not a surprise that Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang has received a spot in the Michelin Guide quite recently.

TokNan1958 — Google review

One of the best one Michelin star nasi lemak around and it is just RM3 per packet. There are 6 flavours to choose from and I have tried them all. Beware, the chilli is very spicy but this adds to the flavour. Rice is fragrant and soft, chilli is hot and strong and the ingredients adds the extra layering to it.Bad thing is portion is small but cheap. So get 2-3 packets to fill your stomach.

K1 23 — Google review

The chilli is pretty good and authentic but it’s really too spicy until burn stomach lining :(RM3 per pack March 2024

Michelin Award nasi lemak daun pisang. Rice is lemak and fragrance. Packing with Banana leaf looks traditional. Open till noon. Recommended

CM Yong — Google review

This is one of the nicest nasi lemak bungkus and it is spicy. Comes with option like ikan bilis, udang, ikan goreng, ikan masin, sotong. Each time I visit Penang, this is a must have bfast for me. My last visit, Mar 2024, the price is now RM3 for a bungkus. A significant jump in price. This the reason for the one star. I will not be going back here again. This is just being too greedy. Luckily there an alternate option in Jalan Macalister, similar nasi lemak bungkus, not spicy sold by a couple.Nasi Lemak WakZee at MS Food Court. Macalister Road.

Suberan Chandran — Google review

A variety of nasi lemak daun pisang is available. However prices are a bit on the high side, maybe because it is certified by michelin.Rice is tasty, however sambal is too spicy for me.

Hawker center

Malaysian restaurant

Chulia Street Hawker Food is a must-visit in Penang, known for its diverse and delicious street food offerings. The night market on Chulia Street is a vibrant celebration of Penang's hawker culture, with an array of small eateries and hawker stalls serving up Malay, Chinese, Indian, and fusion dishes. As the sun sets, the street comes alive with the aroma of spices and a bustling atmosphere where locals and travelers gather to enjoy freshly cooked local delicacies.

I’ve been coming here everytime I visit Penang since 2018, and which time I enjoyed the food very much. Now they’ve relocated to a busy street with traffic next to it. The best recommendation I would tell you is the wantan mee, it’s always good. Before MCO, it used to have very long queue, now they serve still as good quality but with much lesser waiting time. Another food I enjoy is the Lobak from the opposite street (served by a young man). Chulia St is also very lively at night, with pubs and music blasting across the street.

Su Fern Beh — Google review

Delightful Cantonese style fried noodles by the Chan octagenarian couple, now tucked away from the main Chulia Street, along Lebuh Carnavon towards a corner junction. The stall is unmistakably flanked on both sides by round tables for the regulars. The Char Hor Fun (RM5) is exquisitely done with plenty of wok hei, as good as the Tanjung Bungah morning version. The Hokkien Char however lacks the noodle softness delivered by the Hainanese chef at Nam Kie on Kimberley Street and may disappoint a true noodle connoisseur. This culinary art is fast disappearing due to the absence of any heir apparent and already lost in the popular KL stalls.

Tech4 Good — Google review

The row of street food has been moved from the main road (Chulia Street) to the side road which I think is a good idea. I am glad my favorite wanton mee is still here serving up the best bowl of Penang style wanton meeMaybe the government should turn this side road into a pedestrian street for the safety of people dining here.

We tried so many different dishes! Char kway teow with duck and egg is delicious and only cost $8. Extremely busy so be patient. We also tried the fish ball soup $6 from next booth. The owner’s brother is so attentive looking after the people in queue. Then we order mango and papaya juice $7.5 from the booth next. One lady came to our table, and we ordered chicken wings from her. It costs $7 for 2 pieces. We really enjoyed it here.Find a table and you can order different food around. Some they deliver to you.

Variety of food. Curry mee had delicious broth mixed together with the sambal. Wantan mee small portion for the rm5 price. Char kueh kar was a good snack to munch while people watching. Got the apoms as well - 60sen/pc. Seatings are on the streetside. Come at 6pm cause less crowded.

Letha Shaferry Binel — Google review

We stopped by this food street as it was walking distance from our hotel. The place was crowded and lively, what you would expect from the street food area. Cars and bikes were passing by, it really gives you an experience eating by the road, having a mixture of car fumes and food fumes. We ordered the mantis prawn from the seafood stall, and had the fried rice and Cantonese noodles from the stall behind it. I lined up for the fried rice cakes as well. The food were very average for Penang standard, the only above average dish were the mantis prawn dish. The rice cakes were somewhat flavourless. It's alright, but not worth the visit if you're far away.

Jeffrey Tanggau — Google review

Good local food with different of choices for dinner, good noodle, Char stir-fried noodles and. Satay, but it’s hard to sit without the guys came and force to order some drinks otherwise you will get charged for sitting even though we ordered a lot of food!

J J — Google review

The wanton mee is super good! Extremely flavourful and fragrant. Probably from the sesame oil and pork lard. Really hard to find such good wanton mee now. The apom is very basic but very fragrant and delicious. There are also many char kway teow stall. This one we had is probably the least happening one. It looks unassuming but it really tastes quite good. There is one stall which says they’ve won runner up in some char kway teow competition. Did not try that though. Get your drinks from Four Seasons Juice as the juice are very “pure”. Very thick and fruity! This food street is not closed and dedicated to the hawker guests. Vehicles still run through the street so it can be quite dangerous walking along the street to get your food. Would be great if they closed this street to vehicles during the evening.

Eric Elijah Lim — Google review

Busy and lively place for dinner with lots of stalls. What I’d recommend:1. Satay by an elderly lady (perfectly seasoned!)2. Oyster omelette (oysters are big!)Just normal for me:1. Char kuey kak (can get better ones elsewhere)2. Wantan noodle (doesn’t understand the queue (but joined along because you know, FOMO) but it’s just decent at best)

Pohvun Chang — Google review

It's busy street market, table and vendors are on street and cars still come , so watch your feet, when you got table the waiters will come with menu you can order then pay when served. It's was nervous dinner that i don't feel comfortable and relaxing. Cost of food is over rate.same price or more compared with eat in restaurants ( local restaurants)

Nantaya Tanthong — Google review

If you are hungry and looking for a quick meal at Chulia street, I recommend the wantan mee as it is delicious, affordable and the large portion is quite filling. However, eating by the road side with so many cars passing by may not be good idea. I will not return unless there is no other option.

Hammerhead — Google review

Wan Tan Mee here is still my all time fave! Moved from the front of Regent Furniture to corner of Lebuh Chulia and Lebuh Carnavon (really didn't know Carnavon was that looong)Curry mee (also moved) is still good. One of the best!Five stars in terms of food and street ambience. Where 'cha expect to get good hawker food from? A hotel? 🤣

Derek Goh — Google review

If you can spend time waiting for food (around 15-30 mins) there, you absolutely have good food. My fried oyster egg was a bit over cooked, but its taste is still okay. Satay is good, laksa is okay, too. There is a Turkish dessert bar nearby. It's nice and delicate also.

Thuong Nguyen — Google review

It was a hot, messy, and noisy place. As a tourist, we did not know which seats were for which stalls. It was very confusing. We ordered satay and were told we could sit in the coffeeshop. And the condition for sitting in the coffeeshop was that we must order drink from them. Anyway, after experiencing the street hawker culture once, the other street hawker should be about the same. We decided we would eat in the comfort of the aircon restaurants after this experience.

LP Pua — Google review

Lots of food options, find a seat wherever you can (they do not correlate with the food stall). Lively ambiance with lots of bars and live music. Very popular with tourists and locals. The streets are not the cleanest but it’s expected. Must check out when in Penang!

Alexis Busso — Google review

The wanton mee is fantastic!! Must try! The texture of the noodle is very bouncy and light, the price is also super value for money, 6RM for 1 hearty bowl. The curry noodle from a nearby stall is also great. Flavourful yet light broth, also 6RM a bowl 👍👍

cheryl cheah — Google review

Hawker stalls along the roadside. Recommended char kuay teow nearer to the main road, the wanton mee, and curry noodles. Rojak is nothing special, and the "runner up" char kuay teow was lacking the wok hey.

Toh Hong Rui — Google review

I had my dinner here at 6pm managed to find a table and food served within 10mins.Typical street hawker with limited seats and crowded walking street. I walked by around 8pm earlier seeing diners walking shoulder to shoulder and vehicles passing very VERY very closely.Sweaty, rushing, people queueing for food and tables, smoky from the deep-frying and vehicles passing by, not something I can manage as well as the younger self. Good thing is, most of them accept e-wallet payment, save the hassle of looking for change.I had small wantan mee, juice, char keuy teow, fried oyster. I left quickly after that to give the table for the next diner. No dining experience really overall, just to ‘check the box’. I do not enjoy eating there.

Kok Din — Google review

This place is merely meant for tourists or visitors to Penang. Kinda overrated place. All hawkers are very disorganized. You order you wait to take your own food. Food not cheap though. Ordering and queuing can be hell and waiting time can be quite frustrating. A very busy street and can be quite discomfort to dine here.

Roger Zhen Fu — Google review

Great street food. Loads of flavour, very authentic and cheap. Definitely recommend. Can get very busy. Closed Mondays. You sit at a table, buy a drink & then the different vendors will come to you offering their menus. So you may, in fact, order from 3 or 4 different vendors. You pay each vendor as they deliver your food. Organised chaos, but they know what they are doing!

Trish Solly — Google review

Chulia Street's hawker food offers a diverse culinary experience, with an array of delicious options. However, the challenge lies in finding seating arrangements. The popularity of the street's hawker fare often results in limited places to sit, making it somewhat inconvenient for a comfortable dining experience. Despite the seating struggle, the vibrant flavors and variety of dishes make it worth exploring for any food enthusiast. Consider opting for a takeaway approach to fully enjoy the delectable offerings while navigating the limited seating situation. Overall, Chulia Street hawker food stands out for its taste, but be prepared for the potential seating challenge in this bustling culinary hotspot.

This food court is huge and clean. Many varieties of food. I like the grilled fish. Better than other famous food stalls.

JJ C — Google review

It’s a nice new and clean place with a variety of stalls catering for all sorts of tastes. I’m not commenting on the food as much as the place, because obviously each different stall holder will have their own products and some will please more than others. But it seems well run and organised, good ventilation and fans and is comfortable. At the other end is a garden area with a few other establishments - one is a drinking place with some light food, the other serves dumplings in the morning and hot pot and night. We will certainly try them as they look nice. The garden area is not fully completed so one needs to be a bit patient, but it seems to have lots of potential to be a nice spot to eat and relax once fully done.

Peter Bendheim — Google review

My favorite of the 3 food courts I've tried locally. The night session is far preferred as it's very busy, food turnover is fast and freshness is guaranteed.I had keow char fun from, I guess, a Thai stall. Had my favorite taste of the wok fried noodles with ample chicken and even 2large prawn plus scrambled egg. It also contained very skinny noodles. Prefer all large flat noodles. She had some bacon fried rice, also nicely wok flavored. Beer only 17 for Anchor pilsner. The combined garden center is a nicer place to sit. Take a Grab as parking is apparently limited.

Brad Smith — Google review

Had dinner here with the family, there is a wide variety of food to choose from. The environment is large and clean, there are many parking spaces, and there are public toilets. To sum up, it is very suitable for a family or a group of friends to try and eat together.

Stall Name: TGB Western FoodDish:Grilled Pork Chop with Mushroom SauceThe succulent pork chop is grilled to perfection. The mushroom sauce is a delightful accompaniment that adds a rich and earthy flavour to the dish without being too heavy. One of the best things about this dish is that it is a pretty healthy option, making it ideal for those looking to watch their calorie intake. The fresh greens provide a burst of nutrients and fibre, while the grilled pork is a lean source of protein that will keep you feeling full and satisfied.Dish: Fish Cordon BleuEach bite of this mouth-watering creation will send your taste buds on a thrilling journey of flavours and textures, as the fish melts in your mouth and the salty ham and creamy cheese provide the perfect balance of tangy and savoury.Served up with a side of crispy golden French fries and coleslaw, this dish is a culinary experience that will leave you wanting more.

Sylvia Lee — Google review

A well structured and airy food court, very good cleanliness. One of the few food courts that offer that many food choices around Tg Bungah area. Most of the food quality there is however just average and pricey too.Another downside of this place is the lacking of parking space, most of their patrons literally have to park their vehicles illegally.

Chong Tat Lim — Google review

I was recommended here, but it think it is for the night session. Came in the day, and the food here needs a lot of improvement. The Indian rice looks popular, but trying it, the chicken curry was hard, like recycled yesterday's fried chicken into curry. The soup noodle was quite bland and weak taste. Other stalls look like no energy, most operated by foreigners. Vibes are also not that good here. Again, maybe at night, this place is lively, and some of the night stalls are better.

David “The Explorer” Hogan Jr — Google review

Some of the food here is great, like Daniel’s Grilled Seafood and the Instant Cook Tom Yam stall. Those are awesome. The HK Bamboo Noodle is also good. HUGE dumplings and the noodle texture is super good 👍🏼But some of the others are downright awful, like the roast pork/char siew stall at the entrance - expensive and doesn’t taste good at all.Don’t ever order the beef skewers from the stall near the entrance (the pork skewers are great, but the beef is so tough I almost broke my teeth trying to chew it)The place is always quite dirty, the cloths they use to clean the tables are disgusting and I don’t even want to put my hands on the table once they are done 😩

The vendor here creates a welcoming atmosphere with a genuine smile and great service. Both the crispy pork and duck are succulent morsels of joy. Their side sauces offer sweet and rich or a light and salty flavors, which suits a variety of taste preferences.Thank you for great experience! Best to you and your business🙌

Varick Snyder — Google review

The food court offers a variety of tasty dishes in a setting that is cleaner and more pleasant than average. However, the comfort level could be further improved with better ventilation, as it is currently stuffy and warm. It’s a decent option for families looking for an affordable meal and those wanting a break from cooking at home. I tried a stall called ‘Daniel Claypot’ that serves seafood ‘choo char’ and found the fish and clams to be fresh. We had pagang fish, steamed clams, stingray in tau cheow, and fried green beans. The pagang fish and fried green beans were fantastic, but the other two dishes were familiar but not exceptional. While the ingredients were fresh, a touch of innovation could have elevated the flavours. Overall, I still give it a thumbs up; the prices are very reasonable. However, a cooler atmosphere would further improve the ambiance.

rudy lee — Google review

Lots of options of local hawker food. The place is clearly popular as it’s mostly crowded. The grilled sting ray is one of the best in town. Also tried the Hokkien Char which was pretty good.Only complaint is that most stalls close by 9pm. So if you want to try a few, order early!Parking is challenging so come early or be prepared to park and take a walk.

The curry fishead was outstanding. The fish was fresh, and the lips were so addictive. The curry was redish in colour and fully authentic nyonya style (not the Indian style curry powder). The lady finger was done just nice. WOW. 5 starsThe grilled eggplant with dry shrimp was fantastic. Wonderful compliment to curry fishead. 4 starsTotal bill RM97 with complimentary rice. Serving within 15 minutes upon ordering. Plenty of parking places at roadsideSeatings here is a foodcourt long table style. No round table

Re: Bean Sprout Chicken Rice stall. Try the Koay Teow soup noodles with chicken. The chicken is soft & tender with bean sprout given. Noodles is very smooth. Price is comparatively cheap. Worth a try.Re: Daniel Claypot & Grilled Fish stall (17 Nov 2023)The portion was quite big. So we ordered 2 dishes with white rice for 2 persons. Fried French beans and Fried bean curb, non meat for a change! Both dishes were very delicious. The beans fried with shredded dried prawns & meat. The beans were crunchy. The bean curd fried with salted egg & curry leaves. The bean curb was very soft/smooth inside but crispy outside. The propietress was very friendly to guide us on our ordering. Prices were very reasonable. Here's a place for delicious "choo char" vegetables. Will certainly try again.Re: Daniel Claypot stall (27 Jan 2024)Tried the deep fried tafu with salted egg (again!) and stir fried kai lan with roasted pork. Both delicious & helping good for two seniors. Prices was reasonable. 😋😋

Moon Kum Weng — Google review

Had the nasi lemak from one of the corner stalls (can't remember the name). Since I'm not familiar with the Malaysian dishes, I asked the nice vendor for his recommendation (see attached photo). The chicken was good. The fish curry was ok, but the vegies were too overcooked for me.I also tried the char kway teow from another vendor. Supposedly their specialties are 1)fried rice and 2)char kway teow. I figured why not. You can't go wrong with these 2 easy dishes. Wrong. The noodle was bland due to lack of any simple seasonings. If you want just a large pile of tasteless fried carbs, then it's the place.Overall, the food court was quite clean and not crowded, but it could also be that we got there early at 11:30am, on a Saturday.I also walked thru the "garden". It was a hosh posh of potted plants, which is way better than staring at concrete walls or faded ads. Will I go back to this food court? Probably not. The two dishes I ordered weren't impressive at all. The price was reasonable thou.

Teh peng has improved a lot and is rather good now. Lots more food to choose from. The western food though....is simply amazing. Had the basic chicken chop and the sauce will definitely make you go back for more. Lamb chops were tender and fragrant and came with asparagus!!! The mushroom soup, I cannot begin to say how good it is and the best thing is they all don't cost you an arm or a leg. Topped with amazing teh si peng and it's a perfect meal
