Although the park now operates year-round, Six Flags historically closed during January and February (known as the off-season) for considerable behind-the-scenes work to prepare for the upcoming season.

Holiday in the Park is Six Flags over Texas' yearly Christmas celebration, typically starting in late November and running through December. The entire park is transformed into a giant holiday festival, complete with Christmas lights, holiday shows, Santa Claus, special food and drinks, merchandise, and more.

Six Flags Over Texas invites you to celebrate the 4th of July in thrilling style! Join us for a stunning display of patriotic fireworks and accompanied by live music to celebrate the United States with a bang! The show will start at 9:30 pm on July 4, 5 and 6.

Alcoholic beverages may be purchased by Guests 21 years of age or older. Proper ID is required to purchase and/or consume alcohol. No alcoholic beverages can be brought into Six Flags Parks.

No outside food, beverages or coolers are allowed to be brought into Six Flags Over Texas.

Thursday and Wednesday are often the best days to go for shorter lines, while Saturday and Sunday tend to be the busiest.

Parking Costs

General parking at Six Flags over Texas for 2024 is $45 while Preferred parking is $55 (subject to change at any time). General or Preferred parking is included with the Platinum and Diamond passes and Six Flags Plus membership.

Rides may be temporarily closed during electrical storms, heavy rain, or high winds. Rides will re-open as soon as safe operations can be assured. Most restaurants, theaters and shops will remain open.

Six Flags Over Texas, which opened in 1961, was named for the “Six Flags of Texas” – a display of flags representing the six countries whose flag has flown over the state.

Guests who leave the park and plan to return must get their hand stamped before they leave the park at the exit/re-entry gate. When Guests return to the park, they can enter through any turnstile if you have a valid hand stamp. Transferring hand stamps is a violation of Six Flags policies and is strictly forbidden.
